Topic: Should abortion be legalised in our country?

Sample introduction

Abortion has become the order of the day in our society nowadays for a handful of reasons. Many do practise it intentionally while it occurs in others unexpectedly. Abortion can be defined as the act of expelling the foetus from the mother's womb while it is yet to mature. However, this could be voluntary or involuntary, the latter case usually being referred to as "miscarriage". This practice has raised controversies as per whether it should be legalised in our country. Supporters of this thesis have advanced strong reasons for it while, on the other hand, their opponents have equally advanced strong arguments against it. Whether abortion should be legalised in our country or not hinges on the reasons that we are going to explicate in the task that lies ahead.

1. Abortion should be legalised for the following reasons:
* Case of rape
* Lack of means to take care of the baby
* Case of ectopic pregnancy (both the mother and the baby's lives are at stake)
* If the baby is going to stand as a hindrance to the girl's activities (education, for example)
* It is a way of controlling the population (avoid a sudden increase in population)

2. Abortion should not be legalised for the following reasons:
* Against God's commandments (Exodus 20:13 - "Thou shalt not murder")
* It can destroy the womb and make the girl sterile
* It can cost the girl's life
* One does not know what the child might become tomorrow
* It reduces the population

Sample conclusion

The above discussion aimed to explicate whether abortion should be legalised in our country. From the above reasons for either side, abortion could be legalised to do away with ectopic pregnancies, control the population of the country, and in the case of rape; however, abortion should not be legalised because it against God's commandments on murder, it reduces the population of a country, it can destroy the girl's life, it can render the girl barren, and because no one knows what the unborn child might become tomorrow. Seeing that the points against overshadow the ones for abortion to be legalised, we could agree that it should not be legalised in our country.
